What do we need to get married?
- a valid marriage license (which you can pick up at many local jewelers click here for a link to a list) You need to purchase this a minimum of one calendar day in advance
- two witnesses
We would like to meet with you before we book to see if 'We are a good fit', and to 'get a feel for you'. Is this possible.?
I get this question a lot, and the short answer is no, but let me explain in more detail why.
I don't believe that you can get any kind of true 'feel' for someone in a 15 minute 'sales' meeting and lets be clear that is exactly what it would be. Any provider will be putting on their best face, doing everything they can to read you, and give you the answers you want to hear to get the job.
If you are truly looking for someone who knows you well, I highly recommend the do it yourself option where you can have someone who is very close to you perform your ceremony.
Please take the time to research me, talk to other couples, photographers, social media etc and ask what their wedding ceremony was like and if they were happy with what i brought to their special day.

We are having a rehearsal, is that included in the fee?
No. Though as I mention in more detail on the Rehearsals tab. You don't need me at the rehearsal.
I am not a wedding planner. Rehearsals are about who walks down when, and who stands where. These kind of decisions are entirely up to the Bride and Groom and their families.
I will meet with the Bride and Groom (separately if they don't want to see each other before the ceremony) and go over the ceremony with them to confirm if they are doing promises before the start of the legal portion, any special ceremonies, or any last minute requests they may have.

Why don't you do rehearsals?
Firstly, I think it takes away from the spontaneity of the moment. When you actually get married it shouldn't be something you have already said in 'practice'; it should be real and heartfelt.
Secondly, the rehearsal as mentioned already, is really about the logistics of getting to and from the front. You have most likely already envisioned this day hundreds of times and all you have to do is make your vision come to life.
All i need to know is your pieces, Usually we have talked or emailed about them prior to the wedding so we all know what will happen.

Do you give us an official marriage certificate?
Yes. I still recommend that couples order the 'formal' province of Saskatchewan certificate. To get a marriage certificate you will need to contact eHealth Saskatchewan and make a formal application.
How long is the ceremony?
The actual legal part of the ceremony is quite short. If as a couple you want to add personal promises or some kind of symbolic ceremony prior the start of the legal requirement it adds some time to the ceremony.
As a rule of thumb, you can budget around 15 minutes which includes the walking in of the bridal party and groomsmen.

Do It Yourself Weddings - Special FAQ
Will you be present at our wedding if we choose to do it ourselves?
No. The whole point of a DIY wedding is to release you from the restrictions that I have to follow as a civil marriage commissioner
I will meet with you sometime before or after the ceremony to do the actual registration of marriage (the legal paperwork).
I will meet with you sometime before or after the ceremony to do the actual registration of marriage (the legal paperwork).
Does the person 'performing' my ceremony have to be someone authorized to do so?
Only by you. Technically they are just performing a show, you aren't actually married until you meet with a commissioner to sign your paperwork.
I've talked to other commissioners and they have different rates. Why is that?
In May of 2019 after years of the price being frozen at 75.00 the Marriage Unit changed the structure such that the Minimum fee is now 75.00 and commissioners are able to set their own rates.
